Together with the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the GSMA, we are developing an analysis of internal migration flows in Colombia, focusing on the departments of La Guajira, Tolima and Huila. Using mobile data, open data and LUCAs analytical capabilities, we can detect and quantify mobility patterns potentially linked to internal migrations whose homelands are more vulnerable to extreme weather events, such as drought. In this way, the agencies involved are able to understand the reality of this phenomenon of climate-related migration and low resilience, until now so difficult to detect, and make informed decisions to improve these peoples lives.
